Salary Range: £45,000 - £50,000 depending on experience
Role Summary
The AV Events Team Leader has responsibility for managing and co-ordinating the requirements for AV support across a range of live events, with responsibility to the client for ensuring that all events are resourced, planned, and supported appropriately.
The position provides a significant amount of exposure to a wide variety of clients & visitors at all levels.
The event programme covers everything from charity fundraisers and children’s events to live TV & radio broadcasts, formal dinners & business presentations to keynote speeches from board members, government ministers, celebrities and royalty.
Duties and Responsibilities
Events & Broadcasts
- Liaison with Tower management and clients regarding the exact audio-visual requirements for
- events. This will include advice with presentations, audio and video
- Operation of audio-visual equipment as required during events with the aim to provide high quality technical standards.
- Supervise & carry out positioning, installation and operation of equipment within BT Tower event areas.
- Perform all necessary pre-event checks as required for the event, at least 30 mins prior to the start of the allocated event.
- Undertake any reasonable ad-hoc requests from clients regarding audio-visual equipment and event presentation.
- Production Co-ordination of video / audio conferences / Webcasts in support of live events. Best efforts should be made to ensure all sites are connected on time, fully tested and receiving / transmitting good audio / video.
- Cooperate with specialised production and facilities companies in the provision of events and broadcasts.
General AV Meeting Room Support
- Setup and support of AV equipment to BT Tower’s clients.
- Ensure that the audio-visual equipment is tested and in correct working order.
- Assist with IT and network requirements for events as dictated by the customer.
- Ensuring adequate connection of MS Teams Smart hubs & briefing of clients in the correct operation of audio-visual equipment required for their meeting.
- Quick response to emergency / ad-hoc requests.
- The de-rigging and storage of any mobile audio-visual equipment upon completion.
- Assist with support for MS Teams conferencing problems. Investigate faults and recommend further actions to rectify.
Faults & Equipment Checks
- Supervise & Carry out regular preventative checks, ensuring all equipment functions correctly in all areas accordance with the room check procedure.
- To update records of equipment usage (when applicable), to make minor adjustments and repairs to equipment when necessary.
- Raise tickets for faults and liaise with relevant bodies for repairs of malfunctioning equipment.
- Proactive maintenance & reporting to ensure all AV equipment is always functioning correctly.
- Testing and connection of communications and networking to equipment via patching of floor boxes and Comms room terminals in accordance with event requirements and as requested by BT Tower staff.
- Assist with first line fault repairs.
- Communication of any equipment defects to BT Tower Management detailing the symptoms presented and subsequent actions taken to localize any defect.
- Communication of any temporary solution to Tower personnel.
- Providing briefing and assistance to callout engineers
General Duties
- Advise clients and colleagues on best practice.
- To attend any virtual or in-person meetings as and when required by BT Tower teams, event customers or Kinly teams.
- Maintain a good working relationship with BT Tower Event management teams, wider Kinly support and management teams
- Ensure that spare equipment is kept and stored in a tidy and accessible state.
- Communicate any foreseeable problems to Events Managers and hosts at the earliest opportunity.
Management
- Assist with building and maintaining client relationships.
- Manage all onsite technicians to deliver high service levels.
- Co-ordinate additional/ cover technicians and external Production companies/agencies.
- Co-ordinate & book necessary Hire requirements
- Assist client with any AV related projects or installations.
- Incidents and problems reported & dealt with.
- Make sure that asset registers are kept up to date.
- Promote and drive team collaboration and maintain team morale.
- Identify areas for training and assist in identifying training courses.
- Execute annual performance appraisals for the AV onsite team.
Skills Profile
- Ability to co-ordinate and operate Videoconference & Live Streaming platforms (Microsoft teams, Workplace, Zoom, YouTube etc ) and to troubleshoot any potential issues relating to audio feedback, no video etc.
- Proven experience in operating PA, projection, graphics, video and AV matrix switching
- Proven experience with digital mixing desks- Allen & Heath and mixing live sound, & music etc with Dante functionality
- Proven experience with video & broadcast systems – BlackMagic, Roland, CCU Studio, PTZ cameras & camera controls – Hitachi Panasonic, Sony
- Excellent IT knowledge in relation to AV systems & functionality IP Cameras,
- Knowledge & Understanding of Consumer Broadband hardware, routers switches etc
- Knowledge and experience of using basic Stage LED Lighting – understanding of moving lights
- Complete understanding of signal flow in both audio and video installations.
- Maturity, especially when under pressure and being able to maintain excellence in Customer Service with clients of all seniority levels.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills. The nature of this role involves last minute requests and as such, flexibility is also a key attribute.
- Ability to impart knowledge to those less skilled.
- Excellent communication skills, not only with clients, but with your manager and the MOS Operations Administration Team.
- InfoComm CTS certification would be advantageous
- Manual handling tasks will be required when necessary for moving equipment
