Role: AV & Event Technician

Location: New York, NY

Contract: Permanent, Full-Time

Hours: 40 hours per week

Salary: $65,000 - $75,000 per annum, plus benefits including: health, vision/dental insurance; disability, vacation, sickness, 401K

Kinly is currently seeking an AV & Event Technician who will be based at a customer location and is responsible for supporting Sales, Auctions, Events, Executive Rooms, and the overall collaborative environment. This role requires a strong customer service mindset, technical troubleshooting ability, and professionalism when supporting senior executives.

 

The position reports to the Customer Success Manager for the client in New York City and will work closely with the other Onsite Tech. The AV & Event Technician will also assist in training, maintaining AV inventory and documentation, and supporting events beyond normal business hours as needed

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meeting/Event/Sale setup (may require pre/post normal business hours)

  • Troubleshoot and isolate meeting, event, and VC/AV/IT issues quickly

  • Perform preventative maintenance and regular room checks

  • Work closely with Network/AV/IT, Desktop Support, and Engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve problems

  • Keep track of event requirements, dates, and details

  • Support and advise managers and staff on VTC presentations and visual media use

  • Provide additional support for customer media events and webcasts

  • Document, follow up, and accurately record incident history in the ticketing system

  • Manage and track equipment inventory as necessary

  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Skills:

  • Excellent customer service and communication (verbal and written) skills

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities

  • Ability to interact professionally and confidently with senior executives.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Positive “can do” attitude and adaptability in dynamic environments

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Working knowledge of A/V, event production, and video conferencing technologies, with an interest in continuous learning

  • Must demonstrate sound judgment in escalating issues and collaborating across teams

Education & Experience:

  • 3–5 years of experience supporting, troubleshooting, and installing A/V and video conferencing technologies, including:

    • Poly, Cisco, Logi, Neat and other SIP/H323 endpoints

    • Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Teams Room devices

    • AV/IT connectivity such as HDMI, DVI, USB, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth

    • Conference room controls and A/V systems (Crestron, Extron, etc.)

  • High school diploma or technical certification required, bachelor’s degree a plus

  • Experience providing white glove support for meetings, training, and events

 

Additional Requirements:

  • If permissible by applicable law, may be required as a condition of employment to complete a background check and/or drug test, as required by law or by current or future contracts, clients, or vendors

  • Flexibility in work schedule to support events outside standard business hours, including occasional overtime

  • Ability to carefully setup and move AV equipment upwards of 50lbs

  • Ability to handle confidential information

  • Must have working cell phone with data plan

  • The ability to understand the monetary value of customer items while taking a hands-off approach – in other words – do not touch

  • Must be able to travel to and from customers’ two New York City locations
