Role: AV Break-fix Engineer – L2

Location: London (Broadgate Circle) – on-site

Salary: Negotiable dependent on skills and experience, plus company benefits

Hours: 40 hours/week, with shifts between 8am – 5pm Monday through Friday.

(Shift times may vary occasionally for an event issue/out of hours fix, but within 7am-4pm, 9am-6pm or 10am-7pm

Due to further growth of an exciting long-term contract with an international blue chip financial organisation, we now have a new opportunity for a proven AV Technician to join our highly collaborative global team, to provide AV and VC technical support across all meeting rooms and event spaces on the client’s site.

 

As a key member of the L2 team you will work to identify and resolve technical faults across the wide array of videoconferencing and other audio visual equipment; configure devices, assist in office relocations for this high-level client, provide remote support to users at other office locations as needed and complete various tasks as assigned the Lead Break-Fix Technician or management team.

The position involves a high degree of exposure, working sometimes with executive management and managing directors to provide the required services.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Pre-event testing of audio, wireless microphone battery levels etc.

  • Liaise with the client for large events to understand their requirements

  • Attend pre-production meetings required for any scheduled special events

  • Be the primary support to operate global production events

  • Own the event experiences for the meeting host and attendees

  • Respond to notifications of AV technical issues directly

  • Replace components, wires and non-functional parts as needed to restore system functionality

  • Test room AV functions completely with all sources and capabilities, after troubleshooting and during room annual PM (Preventative Maintenance) performances

  • Video/audio conference set-up and support.

  • Site certification of all new and relocated video conference systems

  • Assist with support for video/audio conferencing problems. Investigate faults and recommend further actions to rectify

  • Ensure all multi-media/presentation rooms are maintained in good working order

  • Assist with support for multi-media broadcasting

  • Carry out regular preventative room checks, ensuring all equipment functions correctly in accordance with the room check procedure

 

Skills Profile

  • Good knowledge of Signal flow in video, audio, and control wiring

  • Knowledge of Cisco videoconferencing systems

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Teams / Microsoft Teams Rooms and Surface Hubs preferred

  • Strong capability with operation and troubleshooting of AV control systems (e.g., Crestron)

  • Ability of loading of compiled code in control processors and touchpanels

  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills with AV gear

  • Knowledge of AV systems and behaviour of AV signals

  • Ability to read as-built drawings and apply the understanding to diagnose reported problems

  • Ability to recognize and describe audio and/or video signal degradation

  • Good communication skills with vendors, co-workers, and managers

  • LCD and DLP projector maintenance capability

  • Ability to improvise workarounds for AV setups to meet the requirements

  • Some installation skills preferred but not required
