Role: AV Event Technician

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

Location: London (City)

Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 depending on experience, plus company benefits

Hours: 40 hours per week (Monday – Friday) working shifts between hours of 7am and 7pm

Exciting new opportunity has now arisen, working onsite at one of the world’s most recognisable companies, to provide professional AV Event and Technical Operations support to our client.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Running and managing comprehensive AV events, including rigorous pre-event testing of audio, video feeds, and wireless microphone battery levels

  • Operation of live audio and vision mixing, encompassing advanced audio mixing (digital consoles, routing, EQ, dynamics) and seamless video switching between multiple sources

  • Camera set-up and operation (broadcast-grade, PTZ) for live event capture and optimal remote viewing

  • Setting up and operating virtual and hybrid events using platforms like Zoom (Meetings & Webinars) and Microsoft Teams Town Hall, including host controls, engagement tools, and seamless integration of external AV sources

  • B the primary contact for event coordination, liaising with clients to understand and translate complex requirements into technical solutions

  • Attending pre-production meetings for scheduled special events and providing primary support for global production events

  • Owning the event experience for meeting hosts and attendees

  • Setting up and running live webinars, including feeding Zoom/Teams into live webcasts

  • Advising and guiding users on best practices for virtual events

  • Operating and configuring both software (e.g., OBS Studio, vMix) and hardware encoders, optimising settings for high-quality, stable streams

  • Diagnosing and isolating technical faults in complex AV and IT systems, with advanced troubleshooting of audio-video synchronization (lip-sync) issues

  • Designing robust and redundant technical setups (system architecture) and developing comprehensive Disaster Recovery (DR) plans for critical event components

  • Mentoring other team members, including Locums, and assisting with the training of all technical team members

 

Skills and experience: 

  • Proven experience working in a similar position within a corporate environment

  • Strong knowledge of virtual technologies including, but not limited to, Zoom, Teams, Webcasting, and streaming protocols such as RTMP, SRT, and HLS

  • Familiarity with Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) and streaming service dashboards for monitoring stream health and managing network bandwidth requirements

  • Effective stakeholder management, able to build rapport and trust with internal clients, producers, and external vendors

  • Proactive service orientation, anticipating client needs and offering solutions

  • Critical thinking and analytical skills for rapidly assessing issues and formulating effective solutions under time constraints.

  • Resourcefulness, finding creative solutions with available resources

  • Adaptability and flexibility to thrive in dynamic, fast-paced event environments
