New opportunity has arisen on an exciting client site in Bridgwater, working as a Junior Audio Visual Engineer, to play an active role within this team, assisting senior engineers on complex tasks while taking ownership of simpler operational duties. You’ll be expected to perform daily checks, respond to reactive calls, and provide first-line AV support to end users.

While training and mentoring will be provided, this position requires a confident and proactive approach, with the ability to work independently when needed.

Key responsibilities:

Support & Maintenance

  • Respond to reactive support calls and perform planned preventative maintenance visits

  • Conduct daily room checks, prioritising critical spaces and ensuring system functionality

  • Log and update service documentation for all tasks performed

  • Identify and communicate faults clearly to the helpdesk and escalate where required

  • Resolve straightforward issues independently while seeking guidance for complex faults

  • Develop understanding of both digital and analogue audio/video signals (HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI, etc.)

  • Build working knowledge of AV networking concepts such as Dante and multicast

Event Support

As well as the responsibilities above, the successful candidate will also be expected to learn how to provide event support to our clients on a regular basis. Responsibilities will include:

  • Set up and test AV systems for meetings and live events

  • Check microphones, displays, and audio levels prior to use

  • Support and, where appropriate, operate smaller internal events independently

  • Assist senior engineers in delivering large-scale or high-profile events

  • Liaise professionally with clients to confirm requirements and provide reassurance on-site

  • Contribute to post-event reports and continuous improvement feedback

Video/Audio Conferencing

  • Set up and support day-to-day video and audio conferencing sessions

  • Carry out checks and certification of relocated or newly installed systems under guidance

  • Perform first-line diagnosis of conferencing issues and escalate when needed

  • Support rollout and testing of conferencing software and firmware updates

Skills & experience:

We are seeking a technically minded individual with a developing understanding of Audio-Visual and Unified Communications systems. You should have some prior exposure to AV, IT, or related technical environments and the confidence to troubleshoot straightforward faults under your own initiative.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be enthusiastic about building a career in AV and eager to expand their technical knowledge

  • Communicate clearly and present themselves professionally in a customer-facing environment

  • Demonstrate reliability, adaptability, and attention to detail

  • Possess a basic understanding of computer networks, signal types, and AV system functionality.

This role involves travel to various sites within Bridgwater, with occasional trips to Bristol when needed.

Flexibility around shift patterns and reactive service schedules will also be required. The company operates a shuttle bus service into their main offices, which may result in additional commute time; therefore, living within one hour of the area is preferred.
