Contract Type: Permanent & Full-time

Hours: 08:30-17:30 some shift flexibility is required for live events

Location: London, City, London

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 depending on experience, plus company benefits

We now have an exciting opportunity for a proven Audio Visual Event Technician to join one of our most prestigious client sites, as part of a new team to be the technical lead and primary point of contact for our clients; in person, hybrid and through online events; ensuring the seamless and professional delivery of a best-in-class Level 2 Technical Events Support.

This role is based in London but providing a UK-wide support service.

The candidate will work closely with our Senior event technicians, require technical expertise relating to all AV equipment including full knowledge of MS Teams meetings, webinars and Town halls and be skilled in hybrid event support.

The candidate will require excellent soft skills and technical knowledge providing technical vision, planning, execution, and quality assurance of event service delivery across the clients London campus and UK sites.

Key responsibilities and technical skills:

  • Running and managing comprehensive AV events, including rigorous pre-event testing of all event AV elements and taking full responsibility for the technical success of an event from planning through to execution and post-event wrap-up

  • Expert operation of live audio and vision mixing, encompassing advanced audio mixing (digital consoles, routing, EQ, dynamics) and seamless video switching between multiple sources

  • Video Routing & Distribution: Comprehensive knowledge of "video signal types (SDI, HDMI, DisplayPort, NDI, SRT), converters, scalers, extenders, and distribution amplifiers, ensuring signal integrity across complex setups

  • Expertise required in selection, configuration, and troubleshooting of professional video capture cards and external capture devices, including understanding input/output formats, drivers, latency, and integration with encoding software

  • Professional camera set-up and operation (broadcast-grade, PTZ) for live event capture and optimal remote viewing

  • Setting up and operating virtual and hybrid events using platforms like Zoom (Meetings & Webinars) and Microsoft Teams Town Hall, including host controls, engagement tools, and seamless integration of external AV sources

  • Expertise in configuring and calibrating projectors, LED walls, and professional displays, ensuring optimal visual quality for both physical and virtual audiences

  • Experience in floor management acting as the primary technical point of contact during live events, coordinating all technical aspects, and directing personnel (including external suppliers), maintaining situational awareness, direct, calm, and effective support to presenters and speakers for all live events

  • Primary contact for event coordination, liaising with clients to understand and translate complex requirements into technical solution with the ability to skilfully translate non-technical event requirements into precise technical specifications and actionable plans, guiding clients towards optimal solutions

  • Proactively manage client expectations regarding technical capabilities, limitations, and potential challenges, ensuring transparency and alignment

  • Attending pre-production meetings for scheduled special events and providing primary support for global production events

  • Owning the event experience for meeting hosts and attendees, acting as a trusted advisor for high-profile events

  • Setting up and running live webinars, including feeding Zoom/Teams into live webcasts including monitoring and managing virtual platforms with various devices, browsers, and network conditions to identify and resolve potential issues before the event

  • Advising and guiding users on best practices for virtual events

  • Working knowledge of virtual technologies including, but not limited to, Zoom, Teams, Webcasting, and streaming protocols such as RTMP, SRT, and HLS

  • A deep understanding of audio signal paths from source to output, including analogue and digital conversion, Dante/AVB networking, and processing for clarity and intelligibility.

  • Operating and configuring both software (e.g., OBS Studio, vMix) and hardware encoders, optimising settings for high-quality, stable streams

  • Familiarity with Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) and streaming service dashboards for monitoring stream health and managing network bandwidth requirements

  • Systematically diagnosing and isolating technical faults in complex AV and IT systems, with advanced troubleshooting of audio-video synchronization (lip-sync) issues.

  • Designing robust and redundant technical setups (system architecture) and developing comprehensive Disaster Recovery (DR) plans for critical event components.

  • Performing rigorous pre-event testing and validation, including end-to-end signal testing, platform compatibility, network load testing, and redundancy verification.
