Role: Lead Commissioning Engineer
Contract Type: Permanent
Location: Predominanatly Tri-State area with some national and international travel
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Commissioner to join a fast-growing technology company. Kinly is the UK’s leading provider of Audio Visual and Video Conferencing solutions and is expanding rapidly overseas as well as developing several market leading innovations. The purpose of the role is to lead our technical teams responsible for configuring, programming, testing, verifying and optimizing integrated AV systems, and overseeing successful handover and transition into live service. This is a great role that would be well suited to an experienced AV professional looking to further their career.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Working with design and project delivery teams, validating, configuring and testing systems to work at optimum levels
- Fault finding systems and resolve issues associated with design and manufacture
- Develop test plans as required to ensure comprehensive configuration and verification of systems
- Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of systems in the manufacturing environment in line with developed test plans
- Complete Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) at client’s site which includes final adjustment of system prior to handover to client
- Provide user-training to end client when required
- Support Project Manager in the successful delivery of projects
- Work with colleagues and leadership in the continuous review and improvement of systems and processes
- Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure technical knowledge is gained to successfully deliver projects
- Support development of colleagues and team members by sharing knowledge and experiences
SKILLS REQUIRED
- Ability to create, read, and understand system design schematics, as-built drawings, and commissioning reports
- Excellent hands-on technical knowledge of AV & VC equipment from all major brands
- In-depth knowledge of AV system architecture, including audio, video, lighting, and control system
- Understanding of AV signal types and signal flow within AV systems
- Familiarity with collaboration platforms such as Teams, Webex, Zoom etc
- Proficiency with IP networking, including setup, troubleshooting, and configuration of AV-over-IP solutions, network switches, and routers
- Experience with control systems for programming, troubleshooting, and system integration
- Experience with configuration software from leading brands, and remote management platforms
- Understanding of communication protocols (RS232, RS485, TCP/IP, Dante, AES67) used in AV systems
- Expertise in integrating AV systems with other building systems (lighting, HVAC, security) for seamless operations
- Ability to use measurement tools (e.g., sound pressure level meters, video calibration tools) to calibrate AV equipment for optimal performance
- Strong, analytical troubleshooting skills to diagnose and solve system issues, including hardware, software, and network problems
- Ability to communicate technical information to clients and provide end-user training
- Skill in managing deadlines, prioritizing tasks, and ensuring projects are delivered on schedule
- Ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues, including managing client expectations and handling issues diplomatically
- Continual learning to stay up-to-date with evolving AV technologies, protocols, and best practices
